Paws In The City is an all-volunteer
nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization committed to ending the abuse, neglect
and overpopulation of Dallas area dogs and cats. Our goal is that
every adoptable dog and cat get a loving home. By providing money
for spay/neuter and increasing the adoption rate, we take the first
step in making Dallas a no kill city.
Paws In The City has spent many years rescuing and healing the abused, neglected
and abandoned dogs and cats of our community. We have placed dogs and cats into
our foster homes and then into adoptive homes. We also conduct offsite adoptions
for the City of Dallas municipal animal shelter because they kill almost 30,000
animals..add the metroplex and it climbs to 200,000. Every dollar raised goes
to foster, adoption, medical and spay/neuter programs.
Paw In
The City’s Accomplishments:
| ** |
Reducing the number of
animals killed at the City of Dallas Animal Shelter by having
them attend our offsite adoption events along with our foster
animals AND pulling animals on death row from that city shelter. |
| ** |
Increasing the number of animals
adopted every year |
| ** |
Offering the public a Guest Dog Program.
We help citizens who find strays or need to re-home a pet by
posting them on our website and inviting them to attend our adoption |
| ** |
Providing a Medical Assistance Fund
which offers the public help with expensive surgeries or treatments
that they could not afford on their own |
| ** |
Consistently
raising substantial funds at the Top Hat & Tails fundraiser
every year and giving a portion of them to free spay/neuter
programs such as Metoroplex
Animal Coalition and education programs such as Companions for
Life which teaches responsible pet ownership |
| ** |
Having the most exciting and unique
special event fundraisers in town (4-5 events a year) |
| ** |
Taking in dogs and cats that other
organizations overlook due to illness, age or breed. For example,
treating heartworm positive dogs who might otherwise have been
killed at the city shelter because they would not be put in their
adoption program or taking in older dogs or cats or even pure
bred pits with good personalities and mixed breeds of all sizes. |
| ** |
Creating a training program for our
dogs so that no dog is in our program due to behavioral issues
for very long or sits in a kennel without a foster home. We are
committed to their emotional and mental well being as well as
their physical needs |
Paws In The City’s
ADOPTION EVENTS are held either at Pet Supplies Plus on Mockingbird
and at World Market in North Dallas
by the Galleria every Saturday from 11am-4pm. We also attend numerous
special events around the metroplex. See our website for locations
and times
Working with other Organizations
Educating people of the importance of spaying/neutering their pets
is critical to our mission. We work closely with and promote 2 other
organizations whose focus is on education and spay/neuter. The Metroplex
Animal Coalition provides free spay/neuter vouchers to residents
who cannot afford to have their animals altered and Companions for
Life, offers educational programs and materials to Dallas Animal
Services and to the community.
